Who are we?
The Presbytery of Waterloo – Wellington comprises 32 congregations of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. Its geographical boundaries are Guelph to the east, Cambridge to the south, Baden to the west and Mount Forest to the north.

The Presbyterian Church in Canada exists to worship God and to serve God. We do so by focusing on relationships.

Our relationship to God is a gift of grace we experience in the love we receive from God through Jesus the Christ. Our relationship to others reflects God’s love and is multi-faceted:
  1. to the people next to us in the pew, a relationship of encouragement and of accountability
  2. to the neighbour next door and the community in which we live, a relationship of care and concern
  3. to people of other faiths, a relationship of respect and of mutuality
  4. in missions and in social justice, a relationship of solidarity and of partnership

Our common relationship to God binds us together. Our love for each other is reflected in our respect and concern for one another. That is not to say that all Presbyterian Churches within the Presbytery of Waterloo Wellington are the same. Some congregations are more traditional, some are more contemporary or innovative, some are more ‘conservative’ in theological teachings, and some are more ‘liberal’ or ‘progressive’ in their theology.

The strength of our church and of this Presbytery is that we exist together in love and with respect one to the other. Together we stand for Christ and for God in the world. Together we stand to speak God’s love in the daily lives of the people in our care and throughout the world. Together we stand, a prophetic voice, calling for God’s unfailing and unending love to be the guide for all life, everywhere.

What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with our God. Micah 6:8
