The Rev. Linda Ashfield
The Moderator of Waterloo Wellington
Presbytery (from September 2012 to September 2013) is
the Rev. Linda Ashfield.
Linda Ashfield grew up in Ottawa, where she attended Knox Church with her family. She was involved in CGIT, Sunday school and the Youth Group. During her university years she helped to start a Young Adults Group at Knox which sponsored a weekly coffee house and a summer youth ministry on the Mall. Linda's undergrad was in religion and art history from Carleton University. In 1979 she graduated with her Master of Divinity from Knox College and was appointed to the two-point charge of Chatsworth and Dornoch (not far from Owen Sound). Afterwards, she and her husband Brooke (also a Presbyterian minister) were in team ministry for many years at Gateway Community Church, Flemingdon Park in Toronto. In 1989 they were called to Knox Presbyterian, Waterloo.
Over the years Linda served the church on the Board of Ministry, Board of Congregational Life and the Board of World Mission. She helped create Youth in Mission and worked as YIM's National Co-ordinator. Linda was the Canadian National Co-ordinator for Youth Triennium (86), working on the Design Team as well as the Canadian preacher in 1992. She gave leadership at four Youth Trienniums held at Purdue University and four Canada Youth Events, preaching at the closing service this past summer. Linda has been involved in PCC Church Camping at Gracefield, CAIRN (Glen Mhor) Camp and Kintail, serving on the camp boards and directing various camps over the years. For six years she was on the Board of the McLean Estate (Crieff Hills Community) as well as the Board of Directors for the Experimental Fund of the PCC. Linda has given leadership at Guidance Conferences for theological students and served as Chaplain for the Starting Well program at the Toronto School of Theology.
Linda continues to enjoy all the various aspects of pastoral ministry.
